129 Bloodborne Pathogens

First aid or emergency treatment in case of sudden illness or injury to a student or staff member while in school grounds shall be administered by the school nurse or other designated staff member certified in CPR and First Aid. The Superintendent shall establish District procedures for the handling of such emergencies. Procedures specifically for responding to an exposure to bloodborne pathogens will be established and made known to staff. All students and staff shall reduce the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens by using universal precautions to prevent contact with blood and body fluids.

The Superintendent shall draft regulations/procedures for the implementation of this policy.
