205 Compensation for Part-Time Positions

All part-time vacant positions shall be posted except substitute assignments shorter than ninety-two (92) days in duration.

Positions of twenty-nine (29) hours or fewer per week shall be considered part-time.

Vacancies of fewer than ninety-two (92) days in duration shall be considered short-term.

In situations where the posting of a short-term vacancy is not practicable the posting requirement shall be waived.

Should the hours or duration of the vacancy change the vacancy shall be reposted.

Part-time teacher substitutes shall be compensated at the District daily rate of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per day prorated.

Part-time paraprofessional substitutes shall be compensated at the District current hourly rate for salary Grade 9, Step A prorated.

With some exceptions with regard to critical shortage vacancies, individuals secured for part-time temporary teacher vacancies shall be compensated at a rate of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per hour.

The Administration shall have the authority to compensate individuals who fill part-time teacher positions, that meet the New Hampshire Department of Education Critical Shortage definition, at the same per diem rate that individuals receive teaching in the same full-time position with the same level of experience and certification. Compensation at the determined rate shall begin on the first day of the assignment and shall be consistent with the Manchester Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement salary schedule.

Individuals who fill part-time, long-term or permanent vacancies shall be compensated at the same per diem rate as individuals in full-time positions who have the same level of experience and certification. Compensation at the determined rate shall begin on the first day of the assignment.

All part-time non-affiliated vacancies shall be posted and compensation shall be consistent with the current applicable salary schedule (includes Interpreter Tutors, Certified Instructors, School Food and Nutrition and 21st Century staff).

All part-time AFSCME paraprofessional vacancies shall be posted and compensation shall be consistent with the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement.

All part-time Manchester Educational Support Personnel Association (MESPA) vacancies shall be posted and compensation shall be consistent with the MESPA collective bargaining agreement.

All part-time principal vacancies shall be posted and compensation shall be at a prorated salary consistent with the salary schedule of the Association of Manchester Principals (AMP) collective bargaining agreement.

All part-time Director and Coordinator vacancies shall be posted and compensation shall be at a prorated salary consistent with the salary schedule in the current Teamsters Directors’ and Coordinators’ collective bargaining agreement.

The intent of this policy is not to violate any Federal or State law.
