100.1 Staff Selection and Hiring Process

Since the quality of the staff hired by the Board of School Committee is the major component of an effective educational program, the Board and Administration of the District shall make every effort possible to attract and retain the best-qualified personnel. 

The best-qualified applicant shall be selected for each position without regard to age, race, creed, religion, color, sex, national origin, disability or handicap, sexual orientation or political affiliation.

New Hampshire Education Laws Annotated and labor statutes, applicable federal laws, Rules of the Board of School Committee (5.02), and obligations pursuant to the current bargaining agreements shall be followed in the implementation of this policy. 

If circumstances dictate, the BOSC shall convene a special meeting to approve nominations.

The Superintendent’s nomination of a Building Principal, Director of Human Resources, Director of School Food and Nutrition, Athletic Director, Director of Information Technology, and Federal Projects Director shall be placed on the table until the next regularly scheduled Board of School Committee meeting (minimum of two weeks). The Board of School Committee shall take a vote to elect the candidate at the next regularly scheduled meeting. 

The Superintendent of Schools is responsible for nominating candidates to the Board of School Committee and for the development of regulations to implement this policy.

The Superintendent shall draft regulations/procedures for the implementation of this policy.
