112 Board Member Conferences, Conventions, and Workshops

The Board encourages the participation of all members at School Board conferences, workshops, and conventions. In order to control both the investment of time and funds necessary to implement this policy, the Board establishes these principles and procedures:
A calendar of School Board Association conferences, conventions, and workshops shall be maintained by the Board Clerk. The Board shall decide at its annual workshop which meetings appear to be most productive as regards direct and indirect benefits to the District.
Funds for participation at such meetings shall be included in the annual budget. When funds are limited, the Board shall designate which of its members would be the most appropriate for participation in a conference, workshop or convention.
Reimbursement to Board members for their travel expenses shall comply with the staff member travel expense policy.
When a conference, convention, or workshop is not attended by the full Board, those who do participate shall be requested to share information, recommendations, and materials acquired at the meeting.
